How Do I Start Playing Golf If I've Never Played?

You book a bay and show up. First Swing is a beginner-friendly experience available anytime at The Par Club in Castle Rock, and it is designed for people with no golf experience. Clubs are available, a host shows you how everything works, and nobody keeps score unless you want them to. The experience helps you learn in a way that is fun and very low pressure.

🚩What Actually Happens?

  • You show up. Wear comfortable shoes. That's the only rule: no golf shoes.
  • We hand you a club if you don't bring your own.
  • A host shows you how the system works. Ten minutes, tops.
  • Enjoy our Happy Hour menu, craft cocktails and snacks brought right to your bay.
  • Then we step back and let you enjoy the experience.

Common Questions

What do I wear?

keyboard_arrow_down

Dress for comfort. The one thing we ask is comfortable shoes — no golf shoes, and nothing you can't swing in.

Do I need my own clubs?

keyboard_arrow_down

No. Clubs are available at no charge on request.

Can I bring people who already golf?

keyboard_arrow_down

Yes, and it’s often even more fun that way!

What can my non-golfing friends do to enjoy the bays?

keyboard_arrow_down

Social groups looking for a fun experience often enjoy our minigames, including Water Pong, Tic Tac Toe, and Yacht Chaos (a fun fantasy game set on a yacht). More experienced golfers can enjoy a closest-to-the-pin challenge at Sawgrass 17 or a round on the Ultimate Long Drive contest.

Is this a lesson?

keyboard_arrow_down

No. A host shows you how the equipment works and then leaves you alone. If you decide later that you want real coaching, we can point you to it — but that is a separate thing you'd have to ask for.

Is indoor golf actually good for beginners?

keyboard_arrow_down

Indoor golf can be the very best option for beginners. You're inside, in your own bay, nobody is waiting behind you, the ball doesn’t disappear into the rough, and if you miss it entirely the only witnesses are your friends.

How many courses are available?

keyboard_arrow_down

Over 2600 courses are available to play, including many local courses. New golfers can also play fantasy courses inspired by Candyland, Jurassic Park, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and Minecraft, to name a few. Regardless of skill level, you'll find a course to enjoy and improve on.
